WHY DID THIS MAKE ME CRY

Delilah lay in her bed, hands shaking from the illness that was running rampant in her body. A nurse entered, carrying a wrapped box.

‘What is it?’ her voice croaking, every syllable an immense effort.

‘It’s a gift, for you, Miss Delilah.’

‘It’s from Peter again isn’t it?’ She would’ve rolled her eyes, but she could scarcely keep them open.

‘I believe it is, Miss. Would you like me to open it?’ The nurse began to unwrap it.

‘No!’ The nurse was taken aback. Miss Delilah hadn’t shown such vigour for weeks. She handed over the gift, and edged slowly out the room.

‘What could this possibly be now, Peter?’ Her delicate fingers traced over the box until she found the crease in the wrapping. For an hour, she struggled with tape and paper, until a small wooden box lay on her lap. She smiled.

‘A music box? Peter, I didn’t know you could sing.’

She opened it, and a little robotic figure popped up from the centre. The smile on her face grew just a little wider. She wound the brass key as tight as she could, before letting go.

Such beautiful music came from the box. Delilah leant back against her pillows and closed her eyes, the smile never wavering for a moment. In her head she saw herself dancing, arm in arm with that silly old Peter Walter.

The nurse walked in as the music stopped. ‘That was a lovely song, Miss Delilah, what was it?’

Miss Delilah didn’t answer. She was gone.

write more music!
figure out how the heck i’m gonna fund the dc trip in december
finish inga cosplay by am^2 and maybe piece together a peter walter vi cosplay or start emonzaemon
exercise and lose weight in preparation for inga but also to exercise and lose weight for my health.
hang out with ALL the friends as much as possible because i really miss them. i would name drop a few but if you live in or near orange county and i know you personally then that means you.
